GILG recognises the importance of career planning and employment pathways for Gladstone youth. GILG and its members work closely with CQ University and EQIP to help provide those pathways into industry. Our members also provide a range of apprenticeships to ensure that we have local talent entering our workforce.
EQIP was developed as a partnership between Education Queensland and Industry to offer a world-class program that allows the business and education communities to work together to provide alternative education pathways for students. The collective goal is to retain our next generation workforce in the local community and support the economic development of the Gladstone region.
EQIP has worked closely with Education Queensland, local business and Industry over the past 8 years to identify training programs that are aligned to local employment needs. Its VET Programs are informed by the Industry partners to ensure that they are current, relevant and provide real pathways into a wide range of industries including civil construction, engineering, manufacturing, process plant operations, automotive/mechanical, building construction, hospitality, tourism and business support services.
