Peter Ritchie, Site Manager of Orica Yarwun, has been elected the new Chair of the Gladstone Industry Leadership Group.
GILG would like to thank John Abbott, General Manager Operations, NRG Gladstone Power Station, for his 18 months as Chair. John will remain on the board.
Peter Ritchie, moved to Gladstone in January 2016, with Orica, to take on the role of Site Manager at the Yarwun plant.
Starting work in 1979 as a Graduate Chemist in Melbourne with Altona Petrochemical Company. Peter picked up chemical engineering qualifications while studying part time and has worked in environmental, production planning, process engineering and operations management roles over 34 years at the Altona Complex in Victoria.
In 2008, Peter began a two year assignment in China, living in the city of Shenyang in Liaoning province under the sponsorship of the new Chinese owners of Qenos, Australia’s ethylene and polyethylene manufacturer.
He returned to Melbourne in 2010 to head a major expansion project for the ethylene plant as Project Director. Peter then moved to Orica in 2013 as the Site Director for the new Ammonium Nitrate plant in Bontang, Kalimantan Timur, Indonesia.
He and his wife, Donna, are currently enjoying the friendliness and excellent facilities of Gladstone.
We welcome Peter to the role, he has a wealth of knowledge and will be a valuable asset to GILG.
